When ThreeBestRated.com reached out to me to let me know we had been selected and asking for more information for our listing, I almost deleted the email and forgot all about it. I’ve seen plenty of those paid directory or content-mill sites that are designed to chase traffic.
And while I’m sure they have a business model for using our content, I found their approach to be rather refreshing, and in the end, having made the spot for 7 years running, I’ve finally decided to make a post to announce that Trufast Tree Service, having been 9 years in business, has made this spot on merit 7 years in a row.
Using their 50-point inspection guideline, I’ll take the opportunity to brag just a little bit about our history – but not to pat myself on the back – even though I own the business, it’s been a massive team effort. And since I don’t have experience as an actual tree worker, the real heroes here are a number of guys who I’ll highlight in this article.

Reputation: Simply put, they check reviews, and here is a place where we shine: 467+ Google reviews with an average 4.9+ star rating, and 88 BBB reviews with average 5.0 rating.
It’s really been exciting to watch the reviews coming in from customers, not just happy because we do what we say we are going to do, but also complimenting crew respectfulness, camaraderie, and often complimenting the smoothness of the process of working with us from start to finish.
Reviews offer a window into the history of a company – a company that’s been at it for years has dealt with real storms, tricky jobs near houses, and the lessons that have honed us into one of the best tree services in Springfield, MO. As a smaller, locally owned family business, we just don’t have the resources or know-how to fake the 555+ reviews coming from from our customers in the area: Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Republic, Rogersville along with other towns in Southwest Missouri – actual customers liked what we did well enough to take time to do us a favor in return, something we appreciate an awful lot!

ThreeBestRated checks insurance under their trust factors, which is a basic essential to verify a legit company, but as I said this might be a bit self-serving, we’ll bring it up here: we carry $1 million in general liability, $1 million in commercial auto, and a $3 million umbrella, and of course workman’s comp insurance. The only reason we hit so high on umbrella is because of government contract, but it sounds impressive, so we’ll mention it here.
Why an ISA Certified Arborist Makes a Difference
Luke Smith is our ISA Certified Arborist (MW-6217A), and he’s been with us since day one – most folks thinks he’s the owner, and probably rightfully so. That means he’s passed testing on tree biology, proper pruning, risk assessment, pests, soil science. The nice thing is that he is typically the person who sees every job, speaks to every customer.
When Luke comes out to give an estimate, he’s looking at your trees through the eyes of someone who not only has the credential of arborist, but also has the experience to back it up. His experience helps you to make better decisions for what to do with your unique situation and also protects life, limb, and property for risky trees.
A Solid Crew is the Real Difference
While ThreeBestRated’s process goes on to look at digital footprint, how website is, how well presented the brand promise and services are, the work of Trufast goes on through the diligence, attention-to-detail, excellence, perseverance, and leadership of our crews.
In late 2024, we added Kelsey Horsey to the team, who tries to get to every phone call before it gets to voicemail, and does a very good job of keeping supervision over every customer who reaches out. And when the storms hit Springfield, Missouri not once, but twice last year, she was worth her weight in gold!
Her husband, CJ Horsey has the third-longest tenure, a Swiss knife – maintenance, welding, climbing, managing, you name it.
After CJ came Angela – while part time, she’s indispensable to the team via bookkeeping, payroll, events, apparel orders, and 100 other things that go under-appreciated.
The next crew is headed up by Matthew, who learned how to climb while with us and has been a loyal and faithful part of the company for just over a couple of years as of today.
And so many more following closely in his footsteps. If these guys didn’t show up and consistently bring good attitudes and excellence, there is no way we could continue to maintain our reputation at the average 4.9+ stars that it is.
