How We Trim

No spikes on trims

Spikes wound the inner-growth layers of the tree and expose it to disease. Over time, they leave scars that aren't ideal aesthetically too. Spikes only make sense for a tree that is being removed, not for one we want to stay healthy and beautiful. When a Rogersville property doesn't give our bucket truck a clean angle, our crew is well-trained in SRT or DRT methodologies.

A branch that could hit something gets lowered instead of dropped

Our work is physics-heavy work. When branches can't be dropped because of the canopy below or even more importantly, your home, we use ropes, pulleys, and friction devices to safely lower the branches. If you get a chance to stop and watch the crew (at a safe distance!) the work they do is fascinating.

Quality-focused in every aspect

Customer satisfaction is so important because it means we did a good job. We want to leave the job site knowing that we’re leaving behind excellent work. For us, professionalism means that from the first time a customer reaches out to us to the sign-off and beyond, the process has been relatively smooth, understandable, and enjoyable.

The cleanup

As a default, the job isn't finished until the yard is cleared and everything is hauled off. It's heavy work we do, so it's hard to leave it perfect, but we do try to leave it better than how we found it. What you can expect is all the brush hauled off, and then the twigs and leaves raked up behind it.

How We Remove

Tree removals have a different goal

Since the goal of a tree removal is not the continued health of the tree, the focus becomes how to most efficiently remove the tree and all the material from your property with the minimal amount of upheaval. In the most difficult of situations, that means avoiding service lines, fences, sheds, and even houses.

Counting the costs for tree removal

You can rest easy knowing that every free estimate takes into account all the information with the intention of providing a fair and honest price for your job. What that means is that we are taking into account the factors that most move the price:
  • The size and location of the trees
  • How many obstacles we are working around
  • Tools and equipment needed to effectively finish the job

Equipment necessary for a job well done

Rogersville’s residential lots don’t leave much margin for error. We use a variety of equipment, from smaller bucket trucks that can get into a tight spot to cranes that help us remove that tree in an impossible spot.

Nothing left behind

Our default approach is to remove everything, including the wood, the brush, and all the debris. Of course, if you're interested in firewood, you can even save a little bit by requesting to keep the wood. Once all that's out of the way, then you get to decide whether you want the stump ground down right away, which is the most cost-effective way to approach it. We’ll fill the hole left with soil or chips on request.

Why We Don’t Top Trees

“Topping” means cutting all of the leaders and branches off the top of the tree in order to make it smaller. People usually ask for it with good intentions, because they’re worried about a big tree near the house. But topping a hardwood tree will backfire in the end.

Cutting off large, healthy limbs leaves big wounds the tree can’t properly seal, which opens the door to decay and disease. The tree, whose root base is meant to support a much bigger tree, then pushes out a burst of fast, poorly attached sprouts to replace what it lost. Within a few years it’s often as tall as before, but the limbs that replace the ones that got cut are still quite weak, and the tree is far more likely to drop those limbs in a storm. In that case, the homeowner is compelled to have the tree company come back over and over again to keep these weak growths off the tree.

A tall tree isn’t a problem if it’s healthy. The better options are:

  • Crown reduction: shortening select limbs back to a healthy branch
  • Thinning: taking weight out of the canopy and allowing wind to get through the middle.
  • Clearance pruning: limbs should be cut away from your roof line, power lines and anything else that you want to protect

If you are tempted to have us top your tree, hear us out on how we can better approach your project.

East of Springfield, On Our Weekly Route

Trufast is based in Springfield, about twenty minutes from Rogersville. Rogersville is one of the 17 southwest Missouri communities we cover, and it's part of the regular round our crews run — not a once-in-a-while drive — so an estimate here moves on the same schedule as the rest of our core area.

Owner-operated means something real here, not just a line in an ad — the same local company handles the call and the job. Our ISA Certified Arborist stays involved on anything that calls for real arborist judgment, not just a chainsaw.

A Town Split Between Two Counties

Rogersville sits right where Greene and Webster counties meet, in the rolling hill country east of Springfield. A bit more about the town below.

A railroad town with a doctor's name

Rogersville was founded because of a train depot. In 1882 the Kansas City and Memphis Railroad came through two miles south of a settlement called Henderson, and word got out that a depot would be built there. A young doctor named Isaac Rogers offered $50 toward surveying the lots and streets for the new town if they named it after him. Apparently, this moved them to action since the town's name has been Rogersville ever since.

Straddling two counties

Rogersville is one of the few towns we serve that sits on a county line, part Greene and part Webster. The schools reflect the shared heritage of the two counties it straddles. In 1965, the Logan school district on the Greene County side merged with Rogersville's in Webster County. The resulting merger is the school district called Logan-Rogersville today.

Hollows, glades and hillsides

The ground east of Springfield is hillier than it looks from the highway, with high points and low draws often on the same property. You can explore the countryside at Compton Hollow Conservation Area on the edge of town. It is mostly wooded hollows, with open rocky glades that fill with wildflowers in spring. Rogersville is a beautiful area with lots of trees that end up with houses in the middle of them in many of the more forested areas.

What goes into an estimate

All estimates are in-person and on-site because it has shown over the years to be so very difficult to make sure we are in agreement about what it is to do without walking through the property and talking with our customers. In that walkthrough, we will be listing how many trees there are that need some sort of service, whether trimming or removal, and how many obstacles we have to work around, like power lines or fencing. The size of the tree, how much we're doing to every tree, how much wood has to be removed, and how difficult it is to move the brush and wood out of the property all play a part in the ultimate estimate.

Questions

Tree service in Rogersville, answered.

How much does tree removal cost near Rogersville?
Every tree is different — size, species, location, and access all affect price. We say that pricing starts in the low hundreds and goes into the thousands, but we know that isn't very helpful. And this is exactly why we give a free on-site estimate before any work starts.
Is there an ISA Certified Arborist on staff?
Yes. Luke Smith has guided our tree care since the company started in 2017, and he has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 2021.
Are you insured for work in Rogersville?
Yes. Trufast carries a $5M liability tower ($1M general liability + $4M umbrella), plus commercial auto and workers’ compensation. We’ll share certificates before work begins.
How far is Rogersville from your shop?
About 20 minutes from our Springfield base.
Do you offer arborist services beyond removal and trimming in Rogersville?
Yes. Luke Smith, our ISA Certified Arborist, consults on tree health and risk, not just removal and trimming.
Do you also trim hedges and shrubs?
Yes — we handle hedge and shrub trimming alongside tree work.
Do you offer rough mulching?
Yes. We can turn branches from your trimming or removal job into rough mulch on request, rather than hauling everything away.
Do you remove dead or rotten branches?
Yes — removing dead or rotten branches is part of a standard visit, not a separate call.
