Trees at a Second Home or Rental
Plenty of the houses we look at around Branson belong to people who aren't there most of the year. Some are lake places that get used a few weekends each summer. Others are nightly rentals with new guests every few days. Either way, nobody is walking the yard often enough to notice a tree that's started to lean, or a limb that died over the winter.
That matters more here than in town. A lot of Branson lots sit on a hillside with thin, rocky soil, so roots stay shallow. A big tree above a deck or a roofline doesn't have much holding it.
A few things to look at each visit, or to ask a neighbor or property manager to check:
- Dead limbs over the roof, deck or parking area: those are the ones that land on a guest's car.
- A new lean or cracks in the trunk: especially after a storm or a wet spring.
- Mushrooms or soft wood at the base: that usually means decay inside the trunk.
- Branches resting on the roof or touching lines: they wear on shingles and get worse every windy night.
If you can't be here, tell us when you call. We'll work out the visit and the estimate with you, and with whoever looks after the place while you're gone.
“Prompt response to initial email and appointment for a quote. Took a little time for actual service, but arrived on the day they said they would. At first, they seemed overstaffed, but each person had a job to do, and they got right to the work. We had dead wood removed from 8 trees and one removed. They were very polite, friendly and professional. When they left you could not tell they had been here, there was no debris left. We would recommend and use again.”
Our farthest stop on the map, not off our radar.
Trufast is based in Springfield, about 50 minutes from Branson — the farthest city in our service area. Branson is still one of the 17 southwest Missouri communities we cover, and being our longest drive means work is scheduled as capacity allows.
Owner-operated means exactly that: Trufast holds every job to the same standard from the first call to the last cut, and our ISA Certified Arborist is on staff for the calls — bluff, lakeshore, or otherwise — that need a trained eye.

“Excellent job! Very professional.”
“They did a great job trimming a huge tree with broken limbs and overgrowth. They were kind, made sure I was okay with the results, good price, and quick!”

Branson sits in some of the most rugged ground we cover, and a lot of its properties back onto water. Both change how a job gets planned. A bit more about the area below.
Limestone bluffs and karst terrain
Branson sits in some of the more rugged terrain we cover — rolling hills, deep valleys, and limestone bluffs, with the karst topography (sinkholes, springs, thin rocky soil) typical of this part of the Ozarks. Steeper, rockier ground changes how a removal or trim gets planned: rigging and drop zones on a bluff-edge or hillside lot work differently than they do on a flat yard.
Lake Taneycomo and Table Rock shoreline
Branson sits between Lake Taneycomo and Table Rock Lake, and a lot of residential and vacation properties back right up to the water. Shoreline lots bring their own considerations — root systems near the bank, limited equipment access along narrow lake roads, and trees that have grown at an angle chasing light over the water.

Second homes and rental properties
Branson’s economy runs on tourism, so it’s common for a property here to be a vacation rental or a second home rather than a full-time residence. That means an on-site estimate sometimes means working around an owner who isn’t local.
Why technique and timing both matter
How you trim a tree affects how well a tree grows over time. Improper trimming and broken branches left to rot can result in the untimely death of the tree. Most often we are brought in to trim trees that are at least fifteen years old. These can require climbing when we cannot access them with a bucket truck.
On hedge and shrub trimming
Tree and bush pruning is one of the many services we offer that create a pleasant environment. It’s well-known that homes with lawns that are beautiful and well-maintained often attract positive attention from the homeowner’s community. We know the importance of doing a good job, so you can expect only the best from us.
What rough mulching is
Chipping is the process of turning your trimmed tree branches into healthy, organic, and non-chemically treated mulch using smaller, pull-behind wood-masticating machines. The end result is wood chips, which are rougher than the finer mulch that you can buy in bags.
Clearing rotten or weak branches
Over time because of wind, storms, and branches dying, a tree develops a significant amount of dead wood. Dead branches are weaker and can create a safety threat. If you have dead branches in your trees, and especially if they are hanging (aka widow makers) we will take care of them safely.
What goes into an estimate
All estimates are in-person and on-site because it has shown over the years to be so very difficult to make sure we are in agreement about what it is to do without walking through the property and talking with our customers. In that walkthrough, we will be listing how many trees there are that need some sort of service, whether trimming or removal, and how many obstacles we have to work around, like power lines or fencing. The size of the tree, how much we're doing to every tree, how much wood has to be removed, and how difficult it is to move the brush and wood out of the property all play a part in the ultimate estimate.
