Tree Removal

We assess the situation of your trees, first make a plan to safely remove the tree without damaging your property, and use the techniques and equipment needed to bring the tree down, most often in pieces into its footprint. Cleanup and haul away come as a default for every job.

Tree looking unstable right now?

If it feels urgent, just call us.

If something about your tree has you worried just reach out. Trees are big, and when part or all of it falls, it falls fast and it falls big. We understand that, and we are happy to come out and assess the situation, free of charge. We've written it up a little bit about signs to look for that your tree is in trouble. If it turns out that the situation isn't so bad and it can wait, it's no problem.

The process

The step-by-step of tree removal.

Free on-site assessment

When you reach out to us, we’ll set up a time for our estimator to walk through what it is you are wanting to have done. He’ll be listening to your goals and desires and listing out what it is we need to do to accomplish this for you. In a removal situation he’ll be looking for how efficiently we can provide the service, how much wood there is to move, and what the risks are to completing the job in style. On the other hand, if it is a tree you are wishing to save, he’ll be trying to find a reasonable way to keep the tree alive and stable. In the end, we are always looking to find a winning solution for you.

Safe Removal

Most of our work is in neighborhoods, or more specifically, in your yard, next to your home and property. Even moving the branches and wood out of your yard can cause damage if we aren’t careful. In the morning, our arborist, who also likely estimated your job, will brief the crews on the jobs for the day. When the crew arrives on your property, they review the job proposal while they walk around your property to make sure they understand everything and have a unified plan to keep things safe and efficient.

The mechanics of tight spots

Often as not, your yard will require some careful mechanics to ensure that we keep everything intact. Our crews are educated and experienced in the various methods that we can use to efficiently keep things moving forward in an orderly fashion. This often means using ropes and rigging, and sometimes even cranes for the more difficult situations. One of the harder things we face is a very rotten tree where we can neither climb it nor get a bucket truck to it. We recommend not letting your tree get to that condition.

Full cleanup and haul-away

Unless otherwise discussed with the estimator, cleanup is something you can expect on every job site. Except for the scars that are left from the tree removal and the necessary scuffing related to getting heavy wood out of the tree and out of your lawn, we try to leave your yard and property cleaner and nicer than we found it. We use ground mats to protect your grass from the machinery we use in many cases. In the end, we try to ensure that even the twigs are raked and removed. If you are interested in keeping the wood for firewood, bring that up with the estimator or with the crew.

No tree removal is too difficult — but not every tree needs removing.

Trees take a long time to grow, and they're a beautiful addition to our yards. If you are hoping to save your tree and you wonder if it really has to be removed, let us come look at it and try to figure out a way to save it. Storm damage, dead wood, and broken branches can look alarming from the ground, but it's amazing what a little pruning and another growth season can do for a tree. If removal is the right call, we'll say so and explain why.

“...We had to get a 50 ft oak tree removed after our lawn guy took it upon himself to cut some low-hanging branches... These guys were AMAZING with their state-of-art equipment and skill, working quickly and efficiently to take down this huge tree... this phenomenal crew not only performed the removal task with wonderful precision and teamwork but showed us respect and compassion regarding our loss... they did an excellent job cleaning up everything, leaving our property looking better than it did when they came!”

Why it matters

An insured crew protects you, and us too.

When a removal goes wrong, and it can go wrong, that can mean damage to your house, your car, or even your neighbor's property. Most homeowners never think to ask what a tree company actually carries - and a general liability policy alone is not enough with people climbing a fifty-foot oak over a roofline with chainsaws.

Trufast carries a $5 million liability tower, commercial auto, and workers' compensation. Certificates of insurance are provided as an attachment to every estimate that is sent out digitally to your email. These detail exactly what type and how much insurance we have in every area.

And while insurance covers when things go wrong, we put a lot of focus on making sure they don't go wrong in the first place. Our crews have weekly safety meetings to discuss safety topics and near misses, and how we can approach the next jobs better. We spend a lot on making sure that the equipment for your job is in good shape and ready to go. And that includes protecting your yard as well. On soft ground we use ground protection mats and plan where the equipment sits and how it accesses your property. We can't promise a perfectly untouched yard on every job as the work we do is very heavy work, but protecting it is something we actively plan for, not an afterthought.

Questions

Tree removal, answered.

How much does tree removal cost in the Springfield area?
Every tree is different — size, location, proximity to structures, and access all affect price. We provide free on-site estimates. Most standard removals range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
Are you insured?
Yes — and it matters more than most homeowners realize. Trufast carries a $5 million liability tower ($1 million general liability + $4 million umbrella), plus commercial auto and workers’ compensation, and certificates of insurance are provided with every estimate, not just on request. The workers’ compensation piece protects you too: if someone gets hurt working on your property and the company doing the work isn’t properly covered, the property owner can end up pulled into the resulting claim. Workers’ comp is what keeps our crew from losing income if they’re hurt on the job — and it’s also what keeps that liability off of you.
Do you remove the stump too?
Stump grinding is a separate service. We typically grind 3–6 inches below grade and can fill with wood chips or topsoil on request. See stump removal →
How quickly can you schedule?
Most non-emergency jobs are scheduled within about 2-3 weeks, depending on seasonality and how far we are booked out.
Does every hazardous tree need to come down?
Not always. Hazardous or dying trees sometimes only need trimming, bracing, or treatment rather than full removal — we’ll tell you honestly which one your tree actually needs during the free assessment.
Can I request an ISA Certified Arborist for my estimate?
Yes. If you need one specifically — for an HOA requirement, insurance documentation, or just your own peace of mind — let us know when you schedule, and we’ll make sure one is there.
